Beginning Handbuilding Class

Using traditional methods such as pinch, coil, and slab construction. We'll have fun while covering the basics of connecting clay by hand and understanding the process of turning clay into a functional or sculptural ceramic object.

Together we will explore:

• Using the pinch method to create bowls and other hollow forms such as vases

• Using the coil method to create vessels

• Using the slab method to create mugs, birdhouses or cookie jars

• This class will have an emphasis on functional objects, adorned with textures, stamps or dimensional attachments

• Glazing and surface decoration basics
